PROFESSION
Fairfield, Conn. has been Alex Micklos' home since he was a boy. After he earned a bachelor's degree in business administration in 1963, he stayed in the area, finding his calling at Peoples Bank (now Peoples United Bank) in Bridgeport, where he worked for over 30 years and watched the business evolve from a small mutual savings bank to a multi-faceted institution. As a bank officer, real estate and commercial mortgages were his specialty. "I enjoyed the travel, the flexibility and the opportunity to meet new and different people." When he first started, however, he handled applications for first-time home buyers. "It was a small thing, but when I called with the approval, the families were so thrilled. In my own small way, I felt I was able to help others." Alex still lives in Fairfield, and stays active in the University community.
MOST INFLUENTIAL FAIRFIELD FACULTY
The late Rev. William F. Carr, S.J., assistant professor of philosophy for many years. "Fr. Carr taught logic and ethics. He was a great teacher. When he explained something, you understood it. He also had a very good arm and aim when he threw an eraser at a sleeping student."

STATEMENT
"When I attended Fairfield, I appreciated the guidance of the Jesuits and the depth of the curriculum. It's a tradition that continues today. Now, the world is more diverse. But if students keep learning these values and applying them when they graduate, the world will prosper. I want to support that."
